On April 4th, 2013 at The Coopersburg VFW a Post Traumatic Stress Seminar was hosted by Rep. Justin Simmons. Panelists included a psychologist, psychiatrist, physician trauma specialist and Dr. Col. John M. Wing, state surgeon for the Pa. Nat’l Guard. Gold Star Parents shared stories of losing sons to PTSD with a standing room only crowd. With defense funding cuts, how can we support our service men and women with expedited help before they turn to suicide?
22 suicide deaths occur daily and the best treatment is connective therapy where vets help vets. Ways to support vets, Gold Star Parents, and “Wounded Warriors”, and to inform others were offered. This emotional and enlightening meeting was held long before the current lack of prompt medical care for veterans came to our attention. Rep. Justin Simmons showed his foresight, intelligence and compassion in providing this open to all town meeting.

I write this in recognition of Justin Simmons, PA State Representative for the 131st district. Ever since the first day I met Justin when he knocked on my door during his first campaign, I have found him to be a man sincerely interested in people and what matters to them.
As the owner and operator of Evergreen Farm in Lower Milford Township, my political concerns focus mainly around agriculture issues. Justin’s first distributed “Legislative Update” video was filmed on my farm. The video demonstrated some of the issues farmers encounter throughout their work. Many other local businesses and organizations have been featured in Justin’s subsequent “Legislative Updates”. Whether it concerns livestock, Christmas trees, field crops, orchard fruit or baked goods, Justin cares about farmers and the many growers and producers who contribute to the food chain and agriculture industry in our district.
Recently, Justin once again qualified for the PA Farm Bureau (PFB) political action committee “FARMER” endorsement given to legislators who are accessible and friendly to farmers. These recipients’ voting records consistently reflect PFB members’ agricultural concerns.
As Justin campaigns for the opportunity to represent the 131st district for a third term, I fully support his efforts to continue working for his constituents and hope you will support him as well with your vote on November 4, 2014.
As seen in the Express-Times and The Morning Call.
